Inter-school Intranet and Internet Supporting Project (iiiSP)

It is a joint school project orgranized by Pui Ching Middle School and sponsored by QEF.   Our college is one

of the eleven schools of this project. Mr. Yuen Chung-man and Mr. Tai Ki-chung are the representatives of our

college to take the training programs of Cisco Network Academy Program. The they come back to college

to train our students and teachers in order to maintain and support our network.  

Objectives of the Project:

• To introduce the networking management pilot scheme to schools in Hong Kong

One of the main objectives of this project is to introduce the networking pilot scheme to investigate the feasibility of employing teachers and students to perform network management. If this networking management pilot scheme is successfully implemented, the project could be further introduced to all other schools in Hong Kong.

• To enhance the teachers' knowledge in networking and IT

Since the majority of teachers in computer subject in secondary schools in Hong Kong do not receive formal training in networking, they are not familiar with network management and network-based applications. We anticipate, through this project, to enhance teachers' professionalism to enable them to perform school network management.

• To provide enlightenment and professional knowledge to the students

Participating students not only receive professional networking education and training, but also equip with practical, useful, and measurable skills to meet the challenging demands in the internet economy. It is hoped that students can take part in the school network management job upon their graduation from Local Academies.

• To improve the management of the existing school networking systems and optimize its usage

Upon the completion of the project, all participating teachers are qualified to play the role of networking administrators, while students can join to the network management work. The change from employing private sector to in-house personnel as the network administrator help improving the management of the school network and optimize the usage of the existing networks.

Students of our college:

After the first semester, we had nine members completed the course. They applied their learning
to install the UTP cables for our new extension.
