To keep healthy, we need a balanced diet.

A balanced diet contains all of the following groups of food substances in the right amount for our size and gender:

  1. Energy-giving food substances- mainly carbohydrates and fats
  2. Body building food substances - mainly proteins
  3. Protective food substances - mainly vitamins and minerals
  4. Water
  5. Dietary fibre
