Our cultural exchange trip to Cologne, Germany this year was a remarkable journey that truly broadened students’ horizons. We visited landmarks including Cologne Cathedral, KölnTriangle – the observation deck that offers breathtaking views of the Rhine River, Lindt Chocolate Museum and Augustusburg Palace. Exploring these landmarks has deepened our appreciation for Cologne’s stunning architecture, and its rich cultural and historical heritage.
A particularly enlightening experience was our visit to the Government House, where we were warmly welcomed by the Vice-Mayor of Cologne. Her insights into Germany’s education system, city planning and social welfare were invaluable, allowing our students to gain insights into how civic engagement shapes community development in Cologne.
Additionally, educational visits to Media University Cologne, Gymnasium Rodenkirchen and Gesamtschule Mechernich provided a comprehensive understanding of the German education system. Observing innovative teaching methods and diverse learning environments highlighted the importance of education in fostering critical thinking and social responsibility.
Overall, this cultural exchange experience has inspired our students to embrace cultural diversity and to be more aware of our interconnected world!
